Cuzco: Museo de Inka

All better!

After around 17 hours of sleep, I was feeling much better in the morning.  I stayed home from school just to make sure that I'd be okay and during that time completed my homework.  Still feeling good in the afternoon I met the rest of the group at the Inka Museum near Plaza de Armas.

The tour was rather hard to understand but interesting in that we learned more about how the Inca's used hatchets and chisels to form their mortar-less walls.  We also learned about the rollers that the Inca's used to transport the rocks up the mountains to build Machu Piccu and other buildings.

We also learned about the 2 roads through Peru; one along the coast and one through the interior that united the Incan Empire.  The ceramics we saw came in 3 sizes; small for burial, medium for worship and large for use.

We also got to see the quipus that were used to keep track of livestock, populations, etc. within the empire.  Also shown was the Moorish influence in the ceilings and furniture that we saw from the Spanish colonial period.

Pictures later!  Forgot my camera cord...
